Are you ready to take your Spanish to the next level? Our Travel Spanish Immersion retreat in Guadalajara City, Mexico will help you do just that. Everyone knows that when it comes to learning Spanish, nothing beats immersion.
Join an exclusive group of up to 10 participants for a unique Spanish Immersion program at one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico.
If you’re a traveler who struggles communicating with the locals, ordering food, asking for directions and understanding the culture, this program is for you.
Over the course of seven days, you will practice and develop the skills to become a confident traveler, all with the teaching and guidance of certified language instructors and the help of the locals along the way.
This incredible experience will allow you to explore one of the most beautiful and charming cities in Latin America in a way most never will. Not only will you learn Spanish, but you’ll also learn about the history of of the places we visit, taste the food, chat with the locals, make friends, and improve your confidence.
Each day you’ll get situation-focused lessons, and apply what you’re learning during the trip. With May and Jim’s help, you’ll get real-time feedback and encouragement throughout the retreat.
Our Unique Spanish Immersion Program
The week-long immersion with our teachers combines group sessions and real world activities where you’ll use what you’ve learned immediately. All with real-time feedback. You’ll also have time to recover after the scheduled itinerary with time to shop, sample the local food, and get to know about the history and culture of the host city.
An Authentic Culinary Tour
We combine course material with history and culture by taking you on a delicious and informative tour of the local food offerings. You’ll learn about and get a chance to try real Mexican food made fresh, including Guadalajara’s famous tortas ahogadas, tamales, tlacoyos, tacos, and much more.

Accommodations
We want you to be comfortable during your trip. That’s why we chose a centric and spacious home in downtown Guadalajara as our retreat home base.
Fees and Payments
The Spanish and Go Immersion program has a one-time payment option and a multi-payment option for your convenience.
Fees include:
- All coaching, workbooks, and class materials throughout the week.
- Private driver pick-up and drop-off at the Guadalajara (GDL) airport. Your driver will be right outside customs.
- Seven nights accommodation (double occupancy – private room available upon request).
- All breakfasts and lunches (vegan, vegetarian, lactose and gluten-free, and pescatarian options available).
- Dinner (2 nights).
- A series of informal immersion events to practice Spanish throughout the week.
- All scheduled activities, tours, and entrance fees.
- Local guides.
- A certificate of completion.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Getting Settled
Day one will be a relaxed day as we get settled in. We’ll introduce ourselves and get everything in place for a busy week of lessons and activities in the city.
We’ll enjoy a welcome dinner where we’ll have time to get to know each other more and talk about the plans for the week.
Day 2: Greetings and Goodbyes & Casual Sightseeing
After breakfast, we’ll go over a lesson on Greetings and Goodbyes in Spanish. After the main lesson, we’ll break the class into two small groups according to everyone’s Spanish level for extra practice and more personalized attention. We’ll have lunch at a restaurant downtown followed by casual sightseeing in downtown Guadalajara.
We’ll visit el Tianguis de Chapultepec – a market where there will be plenty of opportunities for you to practice in real life what you learned in today’s lesson. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the city on your own or rest.
If you’re still up for more you can join us in La Plaza de los Mariachis where we’ll sample some local beverages and listen to one of Mexico’s most iconic genres live: mariachi.
Day 3: Asking for Directions & Bici Paseo
Day three starts with breakfast and a lesson in orienting yourself and asking for directions. You’ll learn what say if you get lost or if you just want to find a good place to eat. After our main lesson we’ll break into smaller groups for more personalized attention.
After the morning lesson we’ll get ready for a relaxed stroll on the streets of downtown Guadalajara. Once a week the city shuts down some of the main roads to allow pedestrians and cyclists a chance to experience the city at a slower pace. We’ll make stops a long the way to practice what we learned from the lesson and chat about some of the local attractions.
For lunch you’ll get to try some of Guadalajara’s most famous dishes like Tortas Ahogadas and Tamales followed by an optional evening activity.
Day 4: Food, food, food!
Our days starts with a food tour where you’ll get to try Mexican staples at some of the best stalls and stands in town at Mercado Santa Tere. Get your fill of fresh juice, bread, tlacoyos, gorditas, tamales, and more.
After the tour we’ll have a lesson on how to order food in Spanish. As usual, we’ll break into groups for more personalized attention.
When our lesson is over you’re welcome to take the night off to explore or relax. Or join us for an optional dinner where we’ll split the group into two: meat lovers and vegetarians. Try some of the best birria or more tortas ahogada with the meat lovers, or join the vegetarians for one of the best vegan Mexican restaurants in town.
Day 5: History Tour & Small Talk
Day five starts with breakfast and a tour of Guadalajara’s Centro Historico. Learn about how Guadalajara became of the of the most important cities in Mexico and the part it played in the formation of the country. You’ll visit la Catedral de Guadalajara, Hospicio Cabañas (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and more.
After the tour you’ll get to practice ordering food in Spanish and try another famous Mexican dish: pozole.
In our afternoon lesson we’ll cover how to make small talk in Spanish and break into smaller groups. You’ll get an even more tailored lesson to practice with other members at your level.
Day 6: Shopping & Practice at the Market
In our morning lesson you’ll learn how to go shopping in Spanish. You’ll learn all of the most important phrases for finding what you want and making a purchase.
After our lesson we’ll grab lunch and head to the market where you’ll get to practice what you’ve learned. Now is a great time to buy some recuerdos or souvenirs.
At night you’re welcome to relax or go out for some to try some Mexican drinks downtown.
Day 7: Review & Tequila Tour
Day seven starts with a lesson where we’ll review the topics we worked on during the week. After that, we’ll break the group into our two groups for extra practice.
After the lesson we’ll go on a very special tequila tour, where you’ll learn all about the making of this iconic beverage, and sample them to your hearts content. You’ll see how blue agave is harvested and what goes into making a bottle of Mexico’s most famous spirit.
You’ll get to practice everything you’ve learned throughout the week, and settle down for a delicious goodbye dinner.
Day 8: Departure
We’ll have an easy self-serve breakfast early in the morning. This is the end of the adventure. We’ll have to pack our bags and say our goodbyes.
Check out from the house is any time before noon. Our private driver will pick you up and take you to the airport.
