Listen as Jim and May break down not only how Mexicans celebrate their independence, but why they fought for it in the first place. You’ll gain a new understanding of Mexico after learning about how the country began.
The city of Guanajuato played a major role in the war. Witness this for yourself by seeking out all the statues and even visiting the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, essentially a fortress, located in the middle of the city, now setup as a museum.
May explains all the prominent individuals of the time, such as Miguel Hidalgo, José María Morelos, el Pípila, Ignacio Allende, y más!
She also goes into detail about the caste system resulting from the relations of different groups of the time.
