Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Getting Settled
Day one will be a relaxed day as we get settled in. We’ll introduce ourselves and get everything in place for a busy week of lessons and activities in the city.
We’ll enjoy a welcome dinner where we’ll have time to get to know each other more and talk about the plans for the week.

Day 2: Greetings and Goodbyes & Casual Sightseeing
We’ll start the week off right with a lesson on Greetings and Goodbyes in Spanish. Then we’ll break into smaller groups according to everyone’s Spanish level for extra practice and more personalized attention. After lunch there’ll be time for some casual sightseeing in the area.
In the afternoon we’ll visit the main square of Mexico City; El Zócalo. Here you’ll get a chance to visit the Main Temple and the Metropolitan Cathedral as you learn about the foundations of the country. This is the perfect place to start discovering and exploring Mexico City.
Throughout the day there’ll be plenty of opportunities for you to practice in real life what you learned in today’s lesson. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the city on your own or rest.
Day 3: Bike Ride Chapultepec Tour & Self Introductions
Day three starts with a casual bike tour that will take you through the world-renowned Chapultepec Forest. On the tour we’ll pass iconic monuments such as El Ángel de la Independencia and the Monumento a los Niños Héroes. Chapultepec Park is massive with plenty to explore. It’s two times bigger than Central Park in New York!
We’ll go back home for a short siesta break, followed by a lesson on Self Introductions and Talking about Yourself.
After the lesson, we’ll break into smaller groups for extra practice. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the city on your own or rest. We have an optional activity planned at home where we’ll make “palomitas de maíz” and other snacks, get comfortable and watch a Mexican movie related to one of the places we talked about during the bike ride earlier in the morning. The perfect way to end a day full of exploring and learning.

Day 4: Food and History Tour, Ancient Drinks, & Game Night
Day four starts with a delicious Mexican Street Food and History Tour. Learn how Mexico City came to be and enjoy the local cuisine.
After the food tour, you’ll have some free time in the Centro Histórico for you to explore the area on your own. If all the walking left you tired and thirsty, we have an optional activity planned where you’ll get to try some of the most ancient cacao and corn-based drinks in the country like “Xocoatl,” “Tejate,” “Nissiaba Bupu,” among others as we enjoy an amazing view on the city.
Once we get back home, get ready to learn about Mexican table etiquette and some of the most traditional dishes of the country in our group lesson. We’ll have our second lesson in smaller groups followed by a fun game night at the retreat house where you’ll learn lots of vocabulary and much more about Mexican culture.
Day 5: Directions in Spanish & Lucha Libre
Day five starts with a lesson on How to Ask for and Give Directions in Spanish. We’ll have our smaller group lesson followed by a creative activity where you’ll get to make your own superhero máscara while you learn a bit about Mexican Lucha Libre.
Then you’ll get to put what you’ve learned to use at the top of the Torre Latinoamericana and where we’ll practice asking for directions in Spanish.
After lunch, we’ll have some free time where you’ll be able to explore on your own or rest and recharge energy for a fun night out of luchas. Don’t forget to bring your mask!

Day 6: Shopping in Spanish, Practice at the Market, & Cooking
After breakfast, we’ll get together for a lesson about How to Go Shopping in Spanish followed by our smaller group lessons to reinforce what you learned. You’ll have some free time after class to explore the city on your own or rest at home.
Think of anything you need to buy because after lunch we’re going shopping in one of the most important markets in the Roma neighborhood where you’ll practice what you learned in class this morning. While we’re in the market, we’ll buy all the ingredients we need for a night of Mexican cooking.
We’ll finish the day learning how to make hand-made tortillas, gorditas, salsa, and even some traditional guisados. And of course, you’ll get to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Day 7: Review & Xochimilco
Day seven starts with a lesson where we’ll review the topics we covered during the week.
Your last full day in Mexico City will be a celebration of your progress, so we’ll take you to Xochimilco (aka “Mexico’s Venice”) where you’ll relax as we cruise the canals of the city on a “trajinera”, a type of boat used in the area for centuries.
We’ll eat, have some drinks, and have fun as you learn all the reasons why Xochimilco has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1987.
We’ll get back to the house where you’ll have some time to rest and freshen up before our farewell dinner where we’ll say goodbye and talk about your experience during the retreat.

Day 8: Departure
This is the end of the adventure. We’ll have to pack our bags and say our goodbyes.
Our private driver will pick you up and take you to the airport.
¡Hasta la próxima!
