033 – Conociendo Veracruz con No Hay Tos | Getting to Know Veracruz with No Hay Tos
This week Jim and May chat with Héctor and Beto from No Hay Tos about the Mexican state of Veracruz.
No Hay Tos is a podcast founded by Héctor and Beto to showcase real Mexican Spanish. They focus on sharing informal conversations and street Spanish so that Spanish learners can understand what’s actually happening when they get to Mexico.
Both Héctor and Beto were born in the city of Veracruz, although Beto also spent time growing up in Florida and Cuernavaca. So they have different perspectives on what it means to be Jarocho, or from the city of Veracruz. Their podcast also hits on different aspects of Jarocho and Mexican culture.
Get to know the lifestyle, the food, the music, and of course, the places that visitors need to check out before leaving the area.
You’ll learn a ton of new words in this episode! Jim has Héctor and Beto break down multiple phrases typically used in Mexico, like “estar de huevos,” – things you’ll never find in your Spanish books.
Be sure to listen to the episode and also check out No Hay Tos!
