042 – Pura Vida con Carlota Morales | Pure Life with Carlota Morales

Join Jim and May as they chat with Carlota Morales, a Tica who breaks down everything you need to know about her country – from ecotourism and typical food, to what makes Costa Rican Spanish so different from other Spanish-speaking countries.

Costa Rica is a tiny Central American country, but it certainly stands out in terms of biodiversity and sustainability. There’s such an emphasis on environmental protection and responsibility.

Carlota works with Planeterra, a non-profit organization working to end poverty through community tourism. They fund projects all over the world to help marginalized communities.

The Spanish in Costa Rica has some striking differences too. Find out how different the “r” is, as well as a million uses for the phrase “pura vida.”

If you’ve never been to Costa Rica, you’ll definitely add it to your bucket list by the end of the episode!
